We're Jason and Jacey, a husband-and-wife team running YUUNTEA from Perth, Australia.

This whole thing started simply because we missed genuinely good Pu-erh tea. Growing up as Asians in Australia, we drank Pu-erh sent from family in China. As we got older and started looking for ways to slow down, we realised it was seriously hard to find the same clarity, texture and depth from the Pu-erh here (if we could even find any).

After visiting family in Guangzhou and experiencing Pu-erh in its authentic context, handled by people who deeply care about it, we realised we needed to build something intentional here in Australia.

We want to be the place where you can confidently buy Pu-erh that is selected carefully, aged properly, and described honestly.

Our name YUUNTEA pays homage to the cloud-shrouded mountains of Yunnan, the birthplace of authentic Pu-erh, as yún (雲/云) translates to "cloud."

A big part of our commitment is storage. Our teas are aged under controlled conditions in Guangzhou. This is because the quality of Pu-erh is determined by its storage process as much as the tea leaf itself. Our aunty, who first sent us tea all those years ago, is a tea merchant in China and manages this warehouse, and all our compressed Pu-erh cakes ship directly from there to you via stable express international air shipping.

We’ve learned a lot from our aunty, and we’ve also spent plenty of time researching Pu-erh ourselves. We share what we’ve learned in the Journal section of our website.
